On your product labels, it is indicated as Simmondsia (or Buxus) Chinensis, but this is nothing more than the scientific name for Jojoba oil.
Despite its name, it is more of a liquid wax than an oil. It is extracted by cold pressing the seeds of the Jojoba fruit, a fruit rich in B-complex vitamins, zinc, vitamin E, iodine, and copper. This precious ingredient has always been used by pre-Columbian populations and Native Americans to create truly hydrating and protective compresses for skin, nails, and hair, and it is also very useful for combating the typical heat of those areas.
Jojoba oil: properties
Jojoba oil is a very versatile product, characterized by many interesting properties. In fact, it has a rebalancing, soothing, hydrating, antioxidant, and elasticizing action and is suitable for all skin types.
Among the various oils we love to apply to our body, the characteristic that makes it unique is its high affinity with skin sebum and the hair shaft; this results in a very high absorption capacity, avoiding greasiness on skin and hair.
Used in most hair products, from shampoos, conditioners, or masks, it is present in various formulas designed to nourish and protect frizzy and dry hair. When applied to the lengths and ends of dry and damaged hair, it will make the hair shiny and softer, while on curly hair it has a disciplining action, thanks to its extremely light natural composition that gently detangles while nourishing the hair.
Contrary to popular belief, jojoba oil is also ideal for oily hair, given its high affinity with sebum. It acts by regulating its production, thus protecting the scalp, and gives shine to the hair. It is also very often used to nourish and protect frizzy and dry hair.
Among its many uses, it is also very useful in cases of dandruff and to combat seborrheic dermatitis, all thanks to its high soothing power. You can also try preparing a pre or post-shampoo pack to protect against the damaging effects of blow-drying.
