DIY face and body scrub

Scrub fai da te per il viso e il corpo

Alkemy's 5 tips for caring for your face and body with DIY scrubs. For facial treatment, a scrub with antibacterial and antioxidant properties is recommended; the scrub suitable for everyone and the one specifically for sensitive skin, while to combat a specific imperfection, you can use an anti-cellulite body scrub or try a salt scrub, the best natural exfoliant.

NATURAL FACE SCRUB

Using a scrub once a week helps to renew the outermost layer of the skin.
You can start with your face, using a "recipe" suitable for all skin types, including men's!

Necessary ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of sugar, preferably brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil or almond oil
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Mix everything well in a bowl and then apply the scrub to damp facial skin, moving your fingers in a circular motion, in a gentle but thorough massage. Obviously, the smaller the sugar grains, the more delicate the scrub will be.
Leave on for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

IMPURE SKIN: ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIOXIDANT

Baking soda is an excellent ally for impure skin thanks to its antibacterial power; yogurt is excellent as a moisturizer, while lemon juice has an antioxidant effect. By combining them, you get a scrub suitable for both impure and mature skin!

Here are the necessary ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
  • milk as needed
  • lemon juice as needed

In a bowl, mix the baking soda and yogurt; add a few drops of milk, if necessary, to obtain a product that is easy to spread. Apply the scrub to damp facial skin, moving your fingers in a circular motion, in a gentle but thorough massage.
Leave on for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

DELICATE SKIN SCRUB

It is now well known that delicate skin requires special attention. In this case, the perfect ally is rice starch, which can become an excellent exfoliant for those with very sensitive skin thanks to its soothing properties. It is also very economical, which is always a plus.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of rice starch
  • 2 tablespoons of argan oil (available in pharmacies, herbalists, and many supermarkets)
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar, usually the one with finer grains

Mix everything well in a bowl: the result is a delicate and very gentle exfoliant. Apply the gentle scrub to damp facial skin, moving your fingers in a circular motion, in a gentle but thorough massage. Leave on for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

BODY SCRUB

COFFEE ANTI-CELLULITE SCRUB

To combat cellulite imperfections, the most effective natural ingredient is coffee, useful for decongesting and draining thanks to its osmotic properties. Moka-addicted individuals in pure Italian style will be pleased to know that with this recipe, coffee grounds can be utilized.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons of ground coffee (or 6 coffee grounds)
Please note: when using ground coffee, the scrub can be stored in a cool, dry place until finished; when using coffee grounds, it should be used within a couple of days!
  • 6 tablespoons of sea salt (or brown sugar, for those with delicate skin)
  • 12 tablespoons of olive oil (or 6 tablespoons of olive oil and 6 of almond oil, depending on availability)

Mix everything well in a container. Apply the scrub in the shower, so that the skin is damp, massaging it with circular movements from the ankles to the buttocks to promote venous return.

Let the coffee act for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

SALT SCRUB FOR MICROCIRCULATION

Exfoliation aids cell renewal and stimulates microcirculation: this is why it's important to do it often, and not just on the face! Sea salt scrub is the best natural exfoliant: it deeply purifies the dermis and, combined with the right oil, regenerates the skin.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of coarse salt (or baking soda for those who prefer a more delicate exfoliating effect)
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil: olive oil works great, but you can choose argan oil for an anti-aging effect, avocado oil for a super nourishing effect, or sweet almond oil to promote fluid drainage.

The quantities are indicative, but it's important to respect the proportions: keep in mind that the oil should help create a product that is easy to spread. Mix everything well in a bowl. Apply the scrub in the shower, so that the skin is damp, and gently apply it all over the body with circular movements. Start from the feet and work your way up the body to promote venous return.
Once finished, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
