Azelaic acid: a miracle compound for the skin

Acido azelaico contro acne e macchie: le proprietà

Among the most effective ingredients for your skincare, and therefore present in the Alkemy product line, is certainly azelaic acid. But what is this miraculous component? How does it act on your skin during your beauty routine?

Today I am here to clarify its properties and tell you all about this compound.

It may seem strange, but azelaic acid is also present on your skin. We find it among good bacteria, making it a non-invasive substance. This is one of the main reasons why it is being widely used in the best cosmetic products.

In fact, it is nothing more than a natural substance produced by a yeast present on the skin flora. Azelaic acid is also abundant in some of the most common cereals like wheat, rye, and barley, but it can also be found in olive oil when it begins its oxidation process.

The extraordinary properties of azelaic acid

Azelaic acid truly seems to be one of the smartest ingredients overall.

It boasts several properties:

  • Antibacterial
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Excellent activity on acne, pimples, blackheads, enlarged pores, and spots
  • Antioxidant

Let's discover its characteristics in more detail.

The properties of azelaic acid against acne

Azelaic acid is an excellent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent ready to act on redness, and above all, it is an extraordinary inhibitor of keratinocyte proliferation; in practice, it prevents the accumulation of dead cells that would clog enlarged pores and cause breakouts.

Among its extraordinary functions in the fight against skin impurities are:

  • Regulation of sebum production
  • An anti-inflammatory effect on sebum accumulation and bacterial pus.
  • A targeted and non-aggressive action, acting more gently than other ingredients on a problem like acne.
  • It represents an ideal choice even for sensitive and delicate skin.
  • An effect of reducing enlarged pores and inhibiting blackhead production.

Azelaic acid and skin spots

Azelaic acid has extraordinary depigmenting activity, as it reduces and normalizes melanin production, evening out skin tone, acting on dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

Not just an anti-aging action: its action is effective not only on classic age spots but also on all the typical post-acne marks.

We can also safely define this compound as an excellent antioxidant. It is among my favorite radical scavengers as it has a "scavenger" action on free radicals: therefore ideal for combating skin aging by cleansing the skin and giving it radiance.

Azelaic acid in your skincare routine

For immediately visible effects, simply apply a few drops of Pure Azelaic Acid Active on your face morning and/or evening on perfectly cleansed skin.

My advice is to start introducing it into your evening routine, patting the product until fully absorbed.

It may cause a slight tingling, but don't worry. If it bothers you, the solution is at hand: simply mix 3 drops of the product with your usual skincare treatments in the palm of your hand and apply it to your face after blending them.

What are you waiting for to give your face new radiance and evenness?
